Playing 7 Mini Golf courses along the Belgian Coasts

This week we've been to the gorgeous Belgian coast for a holiday and while there, played quite a bit of mini golf.  It's a game that we found the Belgians take seriously and they seem to love it as much as we do.

While planning the trip we we came across this site which lists mini golf courses along the Belgian coast.

There are loads of courses along the route of the Kusstram (coastal tram) and they are all well worth checking out.

We played seven courses and they are all blogged separately and listed below.

Mini Golf Versluys, Bredene, Belgium

In the pleasant seaside town of Bredene there's this 21 hole course which was, in 2025 when we visited, celebrating 75 years.

Quite an achievement!

It was a well maintained and nicely landscaped course. However it was also a bit dull.

We were pulled in by the fun and exciting looking holes you see when you're walking past on the street. It promised a lot.

But once inside the holes were ordinary and, dare I say it, we were a little bored by the time we'd played all 21 holes.

There's a nice cafe on the site which sells Belgian beers too.

Enjoyment factor was 7/10 for both of us.

Scores were Sunny Jim 52 (par was 57) and Flaming Nora 63.

Here are our pictures and as you can see the course was lovingly decorated for Easter, which the Belgians seem to observe and celebrate much more enthusiastically and seriously than we ever do in the UK.

Mini-Golf Parasol, Bredene, Belgium

An 18 hole course in a really pleasant spot next to the tram stop in the town of Bredene which caters to holidaymakers and campers.

This was a decent course... if not very exciting.

It was most definitely mini golf and not crazy golf, with ne'er a whiff of adventure golf about it either.

It was pretty dull but okay.

It could easily be missed out in favour of a much more picturesque course in Bredene a short walk away opposite the Hotel De Golf...

... more on that in a different blog post!

As this was such a standard course with little to it, it oddly felt like a "palate cleanser" after playing crazy golf earlier in the day at De Haan.

Enjoyment factor, 8/10 for Sunny Jim and 7/10 for Flaming Nora.

Scores were a tie breaking 57 each.

Here are our pictures.

La Potiniere, De Haan, Belgium

Day 3 of our Belgian holiday began with a return visit to the beautiful town of De Haan on the coast.

However it's the first time we've played mini golf here or visited the park where it's located.

The mini golf was 18 holes in a woodland park setting, very pretty and calm.

The course was good, a bit basic and also wonky but fun.

Scorecard was the most beautiful we'd ever seen!

Enjoyment factor was 8/10 and scores were Sunny Jim 61 and Flaming Nora 53.

Here are our pictures.

Chalet Mini Golf, Leopold Park Ostend, Belgium

Nostalgia can be cruel.

We remember playing the Chalet mini golf in Leopold Park in Ostend Belgium in 2009 and it always brought a misty glow to our eyes

It's part of the reason we're here in Belgium right now having fun, drinking beer, eating far too much cheese and playing mini-golf along the Belgian coast.

The course isn't in a great state.

There's a lot of work needs to be done.

The course was really wonky through wear and tear, a lot of debris from the trees was on the course and each hole was uneven and unloved.

You hit the ball straight, it veered  right. Hit it right, it went left. You get the idea.

Not a course for purists but a lot of fun nonetheless.

Saying that it's in an excellent location and felt cosy and friendly too.

Enjoyment factor 6/10 for Sunny Jim and 7/10 from Flaming Nora.

Scores were Flaming Nora 62, Sunny Jim 65.

Here are our pictures.

Petit Bois, Koksijde, Belgium

This course was celebrating its 75th anniversary and there was a photographic exhibition of the course over the years.

It was absolutely charming and old fashioned, located in a residential area and a short walk from the tram station.

It has 18 holes in lovingly-tended grounds that come complete with an aviary and rabbit house. It was wonderful!

The course was well maintained and played great with some unusual holes including a three tier one.

At one hole we waited behind a family with two small boys who were hitting the ball any which way. The man who ran the course came out of the hut to show the boy how to hold the stick, how to stand and how to hit the ball. Watching this brought tears to my eyes. The man also helped teenagers to play properly too, it was lovely to see.

Enjoyment 10/10

Scores: Sunny Jim 52. Flaming Nora 62.

Snooker golf, Blankenberge, Belgium

Is it snooker? Is it crazy golf? It's snooker golf!

I don't know when we've enjoyed a game so much.

It's crazy golf but not as you know it.

It's snooker but it's not.

It's crazy golf played on tables with snooker cues. Absolutely brilliant fun and highly recommended.

It's located at the Blankenberge Markt tram stop on the Belgian coastal tram. It's in a gorgeous park with a mini-golf and a crazy golf course too. There's a cafe in the park and lots of bars and cafes outside of the park too.

Cost was 5.50 euros each (at April 2025).

Scores were: Sunny Jim 46. Flaming Nora (who'd never held a snooker cue before!) 62.
